Flying... appropriate homework

Flying homework assignment for HPKCHC - do something you've been too scared to try...
That was one of the class prompts and so I figured it was the perfect time to bust out the Kool-Aid and my wool. I've only been hanging on to it for over a month, paralyzed by fear that I would ruin it.

I am very pleased to announce that I did not ruin it at all!  Below is a step by step photo tutorial on how I did it, using the images from above.  If I can do this, anyone can... grab your crockpot, your Kool-Aid and your wool - let's cook up some colorways!!

I think I might need some help coming up with a name for this skein... what do you think it should be called?

  1. It is pretty. I have done some Kool-Aid dying. I find it exciting to see how the colors turn out. I think you should call your skein Number One.

    1. Thank you. I have no idea what I'm going to call but that's a good suggestion.

  2. It was fun to watch the process. It looks like a lot of work, though. I'm not up for that at this point.

    1. It really isn't - the hardest part was winding the yarn around the chair leg - the rest was simple as can be, I promise. You can skip the winding part by ordering "naked" yarn from KnitPicks... it comes ready to go.

  3. Stop, stop, STOP IT! You're killing me. Owls, hedgehogs, wicked-cool crockpot skillz! There are just sooo many things I want to try, do and make! This looks like a blast! More for the bucket list. My bucket runneth over!! Gonna need some coffee...

    1. ROFL - I was honestly scared there for a second. I was like "why is Cheree fussing at me? What did I do?" - this would be great for over the summer though because the kids can help too. There is also a way to do it in the sun with ice cubes...
