Enjoyment.
I love everything about playing with yarn. The process of creating something beautiful out of a piece of string with nothing but a few simple knots made with a simple stick - ranging in quantity from 1 to 5. The rhythmic movement is calming and meditative. The feeling of joy as you watch the item grow from one loop to finished object is irreplaceable.
The only thing better is the joy that you give to others when they receive your knotted string - knowing that each knot was made with love.

I love watching my hands as I knit - I still find it amazing what sticks and a ball of string can actually create ;)
ReplyDeleteExcellent post for E. I feel much the same way. When I am not in knitting mode, I really miss it.
ReplyDeleteAwww, that was a very sweet post! Now I"m feeling very sentimental....
ReplyDeleteBeautifully put!
ReplyDelete(And I love your ABC pic - very cute!)
I also know how you feel about sticks and knots.
ReplyDeleteIt's so true!
I know exactly how you feel. When I actually stop and think about what I'm doing when I'm knitting, it scares me that I can create beautiful patterns and fabric from 2 sticks and some string...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post. Something about knitting just makes everything seem better (except maybe when a very complicated lace pattern goes wrong).
