I turned my heel! |
Defined as a piece of material sewn into a garment to strengthen, I am wondering if it is to strengthen me or the sock. I have read the directions over several times. I have watched videos on the subject. I have gone to knitting forums and discussed my challenge - and I'm still wimpy. I am having a difficult time understanding how all of this is supposed to happen.
Repurposed lunch tote - now, sock bag |
I will keep trying until I figure it out and in the end I know I will be a stronger knitter but for the time being, I am contemplating who or what this particular gusset is actually working on.
Keep at it, don't give up!
ReplyDeleteWhat pattern are you starting socks with? Whatever it is the gusset shouldn't be this tricky. May I suggest starting with Cookie A's Monkey (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/monkey).
ReplyDeleteThis sock has got my favourite heel and in my opinion would make a nice introduction to sock knitting...provided you like the pattern.
Good luck with it.
If you haven't already, go to Silver's sock class!! now! http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/ scroll down and click on the tutorial that is appropriate for your socks, she goes through the whole thing, step by step with photos. This is where I learned to knit socks a few months ago. It really is very easy. BTW: I took your advice and did the picot edging and now I totally love picot!
