Lovely Ms. LoriJean

I have a dear friend that I am going to have lunch with on Friday. I am so excited that I can hardly wait - here is what I just realized though... back in October, she made an off handed comment that she would love a wrap that I had made for my best friend for Christmas. I told her I would make her one and left it at that.

Now, I am not one to offer and then never deliver so I am going to make my lovely friend LoriJean a wrap - and it will be an original just for her. Here is the pattern, it's so simple and easily adaptable to anyone.

LoriJean's Wrap

Material: 20ozs of bulky weight yarn; size US 10.5 needles (you will need to switch from straight to circular when the stitches get to be too much but be sure not to join them).

Directions:
Cast on 1 st
Row 1: Inc into front and back of first stitch.
Row 2: Inc into front and back of first stitch, knit across. [3 sts]
Row 3: Inc into front and back of first stitch, knit across. [4 sts]
Row 4: Inc into front and back of first stitch, knit across. [5 sts]
Row 5: Inc into front and back of first stitch, knit across. [6 sts]
Row 6: Inc into front and back of first stitch, knit across. [7 sts]

Row 7: Knit 3, yarn over, knit to end of row.

This is where the 'pattern' begins and you can work it this way for as long as you wish to get the desired length you want. I have yet to place this on my needles, I still have to go and get some beautiful red yarn this afternoon, but I am going to guess that I will end at around 200 stitches... but that is the beauty of it all - it is adjustable!!

The average wrap is 5' across so when you get to the desired length, then begin the following pattern on the next row:

Knit 3, *yarn over, k2tog, knit 2* repeat from * until the last 3 stitches which will be knit.
Knit next three rows.
Bind off and weave in any ends.

Enjoy and I'll post photos when I'm done - I've got until Friday to get it done... time to make my fingers fly!

  1. Oh it's coming out beautifully! I was working on it during a movie with Pokey tonight. I am so tickled... I really should get back to it... so many more rows and so little time!

  2. Alrighty, as of right now I have 3' across. I'm thinking I just might be able to have it completed by tomorrow!

When it's done I will have a 'photo shoot' for it so the Ravelry community can have a visual as well.

  3. Absolutely wonderful color! And thanks for the pattern! I've added it to my Ravelry queue. Thinking it's just the thing for my sisters for Christmas! And perhaps one of my nieces will get one to match her Momma! Thanks Girlie!!
