Pokey's Hat
So I was wanting to add a pattern to Ravelry but then I realized that I need a website or pdf link - neither of which I had so I am going to recreate it here. Giving it away for free on Ravelry is no different than posting it for all to see here, is it. So here goes, Pokey's Hat pattern:
Materials:
- 4 oz of Worsted Weight yarn
- size 9 needles (straight or circular)
- size 9 double pointed needles (optional)
- tapestry needle
-stitch marker (if using circular needles)
Cast on 87 stitches (if you need it larger, work in increments of 9)
Row 1: *k2, p2* to end of the row
Row 2: purl the knits and knit the purls to end of row
Repeat this until work measures 1.5” to 2” from finished edge.
Beginning with WS, knit entire row. Work in Stockinet stitch until completed work measures 8” from finished edge.
Decrease: Begin decreasing by *k 8, k2tog* repeat to end of row. Next row, decrease by *k 7, k2tog* repeat to end of row. Continue all the way to *k2tog, k2tog* and you have 8 stitches on your needles. Pull remaining stitches back through with yarn on tapestry needle. Pull tight and knot off, weaving through six stitches to secure tail.
For a nice variation, you could do a seed stitch (k1, p1) instead of the 2x2 ribbing. Photo shows a seed stitch edge.
